Description:

Short, less than 20cm plant, spear-like leaves, growing near snow fields well above treeline (approximately 12,000ft). Flowers a deep purple.

Habitat:

Alpine conditions above treeline (12,000ft). Preferred marshy areas around melting snow fields, and tended to grow above the more crowded plant areas, preferring more open spaces. Found on a NE facing slope of a marshy Colorado mountain cirque.
