Yes after looking more closely at the leaves, you are right. Although now I have no suggestion :) Good luck.

Oh how I remember Scotch Broom; rather, my nose does :) There is one variety that is found here despite it not being native. After examining the leaves of that variety, it looks to be different. Thank you for the suggestion though!

Could be Scotch Broom. In the spring it blooms bright yellow.
