Argiope trifasciata
I know I already have several spottings of wasp spiders - but the females are becoming really big (body 4 cm long, insect with legs about 7 cm) and spectacular - here some pics, I enjoy them so much - even though they really are ugly, and frightening.

Taka I agree what Wiki page seen. I marked specie on basis of Spider's abdomen not on basis of its availability.

Argiope is right, but Argiope trifasciata is a species of North America, and not of Europe. In Europe we have Argiope bruennichi.
yeah, they do catch a lot! and wow- are they getting big, the first saw today totally freaked me out
Here she wrapped hunted insect in a web and preserved it as stock food. Another such wrapped insect seen at left side.
