Vaejovis carolinianus
Mama scorpion with a back full of babies. What a good mother, that looks like quite a handful.
These scorpions are very commonly found under logs, rocks, etc. in forested areas. This little family was spotted in Horseshoe Bend National Military Park, Alabama.
The only scorpion native to much of the Appalachian states

Thanks Stian :)
Fantastic photos!
Thank you :) It was definitely neat to see!
That is a really neat photo.
I've added another picture of a different mom and her babies found about a week after spotting the first mom. These babies were more developed, and one is ready to be out and about on his own!
I only can say 'Wow'...
WOW! What a great capture!
Wow! That is so cool! I've seen spiders with babies on their backs, but never scorpions. A great spotting. :)
