Appalachian White-Aster

Doellingeria infirma

Description:

Tall, slender-stemmed plant with composite white flowers and no basal leaves. Upper leaves are lanceolate (and tend to be larger) while lower leaves are more obovate. Each flower has between 3 and 8 ray florets. This seems to be a first-time spotting for Project Noah.

Habitat:

Growing in rich, thick mulch on a ridge in a (mostly shaded) dense hardwood forest.

Notes:

My apologies for not getting better shots of the stem/leaves! I was in a rush!
