Giant forest ant

Camponotus gigas

Description:

This is a picture of a solider, as you can tell by it's bit head. It was in a lunch box when the photo was taken as they have a nasty bite and won't exactly sit still for the camera. The locals have been known to use these ants when they have a deep cut that needs stitches. They capture the ants, make them bite down on the cut - and when they do they don't let go! The body is then broken off and the head left on until the cut is healed.
