This is not a cherry and not as smooth as a cherry. It grows on bush normally used in place of a fence

It looks some species of Arbutus, either Pacific madrone (Arbutus menziesii) or Strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo), though I've seen a shrubbier version around the PNW that I don't know the species name of.
