Puff adder

Bitis arietans

Description:

Large highly venemous and sluggish snake and responsible for a great many fatalities. The snake has an exceptionally fast strike but the real danger is that it is sluggish and not given to moving out of the way when sunbathing on paths and rocks. Beautifully patterned but the camo makes it hard to see. Responds to threat with loud hissing noise.

Habitat:

Primarily savannah and grasslands throughout Africa.
