Description:

Spotted these in some wood chips in a landscape area next to a sidewalk. They were very tiny--less than 2 inches high and 1 inch wide.

Thanks for the reference S Frazier. I'm going to stick with Parasola plicatilis until someone IDs it as another species.

Referring to your question on the other spotting, I'm no expert but this is what http://www.mushroomexpert.com/parasola_p... said "A gazillion little coprinoid mushrooms look like Parasola plicatilis on casual inspection, so a microscope is needed for successful identification of this widely distributed and common species."
