Reddish Egret

Egretta rufescens

Description:

Medium-sized egret (about 2.5ft tall). Known for its feeding dance. Pictured individual is either a juvenile intermediate (Dark x White hybrid) or an Abberant/Leucistic dark morph in nonbreeding plumage. Spotted in Fort Georgie Inlet, in Florida, near Little Talbot Island in 2009, just below the Georgia state border.

Very strange color indeed. Either a leucistic or intermediate individual. But definitely a Reddish Egret based on the pink bill and blue legs (not visible in these photos).
