@ Jean,.that is a very interesting fact that you have shared with us.Fox squirrels are quite abundant in the foothills of Mt Diablo. We see a lot of grey ground squirrels and it is fun to see them communicating with each other thru their homes. They have dug burrows all over, Sonoma county is a very beautiful place!
Great pose! We have a lot of them here in Sonoma County, too, but it seems to me as though they keep to the cities and towns whereas our native gray squirrels are only found out here in "the wild hinterlands"... The only type we see here on the property where I live near Cloverdale are grays.
I agree Emma. This squirrel was eating seeds for at least 10 minutes before running off across the street! It has been visiting the rest of my sunflowers regularly.

Alice--the seeds are really tiny, so I don't think he is even chewing them!
Thanks Amber!
Jean and Emma: I only see fox squirrels in my neighborhood. When I lived in Palo Alto, CA, I used to see black squirrels.

He is eating so fast, I am surprised he doesn't have a stomach ache.
He's so cute. Love this picture!

It is so cute to see a squirrel on top of a sunflower though!
The squirrels in my backyard love apples!
Mine were too. I planted a "mammoth" variety this year and had over a dozen 6 feet and taller.
The sunflowers out here are huge!
That squirrel has had his fill of at least 5 of my sunflowers!
How hilarious! He has a lovely shiny coat - must be all that sunflower oil!

squirrels are so cute! When did he stop eating? Looks like he is going to eat and eat and eat!
He was Longmustache. I opened my garage door and walked to my car and he was just 10ft away from me--nothing was going to move him!
The squirrel is absorbed in his work :)
