Harebell

Campanula rotundifolia

Description:

Campanula rotundifolia; The Harebell is the only common bell species on Iceland. It is common in the east and Skaftafell region in the south. Very rare is the Arctic Harebell (Campanula uniflora) which only grows on some mountains. It can be distinguished from the common harebells by its smaller flowers and the hairy calyx.

Habitat:

The common harebells grow on a most dryer habitats flowering in July and August. It is a member of the Bellflower family (Campanulaceae).
