Motacilla alba alba
Motacilla alba; the clearly visible long tail of the white wagtail is unique for the passerine birds of Iceland. White wagtails, also known as pied wagtails, are common throughout Europe and Northern Africa. The species is quite variable and many regional races exist. It is an insect eater which can be found in different areas like tundra's meadows etc.
Often, it prefers water in close vicinity but it can live in dry lands aswell as long as there are insects. It is only a little shy of human activities or settlements. The Iceland white wagtails migrate to Western Africa in winter.
