Iris, (yellow & cream)

Iris pseudacorus

Description:

These Iris are grown in my front garden, and were acquired from a friends garden who has hundreds of varieties of Iris & Lily. The rhizome were planted in my garden in the fall of 2010, and since they were established Irises, we yielded several flowers in mid-spring of 2011. Hopeful to get more blooms next year.

Habitat:

West of the Mississippi River, Bearded Iris thrive in Zones 3 through 10. In the East, Bearded Iris will do best in the less tropical zones 3 through 8.

I totally agree with you about orchid species. I'm not sure why you mention that on this Iris spotting but either way I agree. That is why it's so important to include that type of information when posting spottings as to where exactly it was spotted, so our community knows is it's in the wild or not. Unfortunately many of the orchids spotted here are man made hybrids, though I have been noticing more and more wild species being posted.

nice picture, if you have orchid species (not man-made hybrids), go ahead and share the pictures !!
