Ecuador Snail-eater

Dipsas oreas

Description:

Small snake of about 50 cm, short snout and striped pattern in shades of brown. It was very placid and didn't seem at all bothered by my photographing. It was climbing around in vegetation at about knee-height on a river bank. Any ID suggestions welcome.

Habitat:

Andean forest in southern Ecuador, at about 1800 m above sea level.

Great shot Felix. Much different than the Dipsas on the other side of the mountains. Thanks for sharing, even if it was a long time ago :-) I was going to add my spotting to your Animals of the Ecuadorian Amazon but wasn't sure you were still active.
