Paropsisterna crocata
A beautiful high-backed beetle with peach-coloured elytra and a greenish pronotum. The elytra were pitted.
Spotted on a eucalyptus tree (species not known) in a national park.
There were not many beetles around this time of year - just coming out of winter so this was an exciting find !
Paropsisterna are beetle indigenous to Papua New Guinea and Australia. Many of them feed on Eucalyptus leaves.
Family: Chrysomelidae

Wow Ashley ! So unexpected. Thank you so much for the honour. It is a beautiful beetle and I was so excited to find one this season, when all looked dim for beetles.
Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!
Another over-wintered gem. Great find.
Wow, what an interesting-looking beetle. Great find!
