Description:

These usually swim on their backs close to the surface where they feed, hence in the USA they are called Backswimmers. Their near cousins, the Lesser Water Boatmen (Corixa punctata) are bottom feeders so swim upright.

Habitat:

Garden pond on limestone outcrop in foothills of los Serranos mountains.
