Libellula Lydia
Female. Brown body. Dark strip at base of each wing. Wide, thick brown toward but before end of each wing. White spotted markings going down lower body on both sides.
waters edge by dam, of low leveled log filled lake supporting habitat for fowl such as loons, swans, ducks, and fish such as bass.
Ahh. . that solved a question I had while looking at my reference. Someone falsely listed a Libellula Julia as a Lybellula Lydia because of a similar (partially) blue abdomen, which made me question a spotting I listed right before this. lol. But on the same page was a properly labled Libellula Lydia male, with the banded wings and blue abdomen. Thanx! : ))
The males have a stunningly white/blue abdomen. Females have brown abdomens with white spotting.

Didn't realize my reference stated that it was also a common whitetail, aside from libellula lydia..lol. If you don't mind me asking, if you ever check back to this, how did you know it was female? : )
