The hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius), or hippo, is a large, mostly herbivorous mammal in sub-Saharan Africa, and one of only two extant species in the family Hippopotamidae (the other is the pygmy hippopotamus).
Seen along the Kazinga Channel between Lake George and Lake Edward.

thanks Bhagya Herath, they were awesome, and surprisingly they grunt like pigs!
awesome......
Haha Neil, and so BIG! I had a tent 20 meters from the Nile River in Murchison Falls, with a bit of grass in front, and in the night I would hear them grunting, then spashing into the river. Think they were eating the grass.
The business end! Great series, Pam. Hippo's are so impressive.
