Ardea goliath
This heron had a beautiful design in pink and grey on it's back. The Goliath heron (Ardea goliath), also known as the giant heron, is a very large wading bird of the heron family Ardeidae. It is the world's largest heron. This Heron had beautiful pink feathers.
Seen during a boat trip up the Nile River towards the Murchison Waterfalls. Last photo shows the habitat.
It could be a juvenile Pam, they are paler than the adult. There are no marked differences between the sexes.
thanks Daniele. Wasn't too sure this was a Goliath Heron as the back markings were different than the other one. Male, Female?
