Superb fairy-wren

Description:

A passerine bird of the Maluridae family, common and familiar across south-eastern Australia. The species is sedentary and territorial, also exhibiting a high degree of sexual dimorphism; the male in breeding plumage has a striking bright blue forehead, ear coverts, mantle, and tail, with a black mask and black or dark blue throat.

Habitat:

Dry sclerophyll bushland.

Notes:

This male was sitting in one of our apple trees, all puffed up, on a cold morning

You'll have to come to south eastern Australia. They are everywhere. We have dozens in our yard every summer.

This wasn't a very close up shot, of which I have many, but I love how round they get in cold weather. They're like a little orb, with a tail.
