Common Yellowthroat

Geothlypis trichas

Description:

Unmistakable with its yellow throat, black "bandit" mask, and white mask border stripe.

Habitat:

Marshes, grasslands, pine forests and hedgerows.

Notes:

As I drive through the refuge in Spring, I listen for the distinctive call of the Yellowthroat. For this photo, I heard the sound, and waited. The sun was at a good angle for light.
