dark brown upper wings and yellowish underwings with a black stripe. The latter are rarely seen except when the moth is in flight. Often rest so that one upper wing nearly covers the other(3rd pic) making the moth look extremely narrow. Originally from Europe, it was introduced to Nova Scotia Canada around 1990 and has since spread to the west coast of the usa
