Huge grey heron perched on top of a tree overlooking the bend in the river.
Streams, wetlands and coastal estuaries
This grey heron was spotted again today, 10-19-2011, alighting on the same perch above this river where great egret and little egret have been spotted interacting. His choice of this perch may be a position of dominance especially if he is mating with the great egrets in the area which are also an Ardea species. Lucia spotted the grey heron yesterday and noted white patches on the wings which might be more indicative of the great blue heron which is not known in these parts.
