American Bird Grasshopper

Description:

The American Bird Grass Hopper is an insect with beige stripes with black dots in them. It has brownish yellow wings and its eyes bulge out of its head. It has a long black antenna. It lives in the forest and grass land area. They eat herbaceous (leafy plants) plants, tree leaves, and different types of grass. Its scientific name is Schistocerca Americana. It makes a whistling buzz in flight.

We found this insect in a field near the school.
