Scymnus sp
Spotted this tiny Furry Ladybird Beetle eating aphids on collard green leaves. It was only about 2mm and was completely black.
Urban veggie garden.
Does scymnus attract to mealy bugs too? Curious of the usage of its nymph mealybugs like mimic
Thank you for the ID martini! Now that I know these are in my garden, I will look for the white furry larvae.
This furry beetle is a ladybird beetle. Possibly Scymnus sp. They are ravenous feeders on aphids and scale bugs and very useful in your garden.

Ya, mine is horrible! I've been borrowing a camera with a hugs lens to capture birds. C. californicus is a total guess based solely on the images, not your description. Definitely investigate.
Thanks CIndy--it does look the same as Cybocephalus californicus. I will do some more investigating. I thought it was eating an aphid in the third photo, but could be mistaken. My camera zoom is not too great.
I want to say it's a Sap-feeding Beetle (Cybocephalus californicus) but I don't know why it would be on collard greens.
