Another beach traveler alerted me to this red rock crab. I'm not a fan of picking up items in tide pools, however once the beach traveler picked up the crab, I asked to photograph it. The second photo is the crab hunkered down in the tide pool.

You're welcome. Glad to do it!
Thank you for the info S Frazier! I just updated mine as well.
Thanks! I changed the spotting.
Hi KarenP. A nice spotting! As a crab this (and other crustaceans) should be grouped under arthropods. Thanks!
Good idea. It would be a great Signs of Life!
I think that it is gone. I did not make it out to see the blue glow, but now I'm wishing that I did. Maybe next time I'll try to photograph it and post the photo
:) Is the red tide gone? I was hoping to make it over to see it. I guess a very low tide would be the next best thing!
Thanks, Cindy. I've only seen "parts" of these crabs, but never a whole live one. The recent full moon caused the tide pools to be exposed and I had fun poking around with my camera. Got my feet wet, but well worth it.
Karen, I've never seen this one here. Very cool!
