Titan Triggerfish

Balistoides viridescens

Description:

The Titan Triggerfish - Balistoides viridescens is the biggest (size up to 75 cm) among the group of Triggerfish and they are also the most fearsome. One would think that scuba divers would avoid Sharks but on the contrary, it is this Titan Triggerfish that is most avoided, especially during their nesting season. They are very protective during nesting season and will attack divers if one comes within its nesting territory. I have personally been 'attacked' by this fish and they have very sharp teeth!
