Ardea alba
The Great White Egret is a large, white bird of the egret/heron type with a yellow bill and black legs. This one was perched in a large oak tree. It must have been resting as the tree did not afford a water view.
Spotted in a local bird sanctuary.
The Great Egret is protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act in the USA. http://www.fws.gov/migratorybirds/Regula... http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/great...
