Ridged Cactus Coral

Mycetophyllia lamarckiana

Description:

Mycetophyllia lamarckiana, has distinct scalloped edges and continuous ridges that run from the edge of the colony towards the center. The ridges, however, do not connect in the center which is a distinguishing characteristic of this species.

Habitat:

Seen in the neighborhood of the wreck La Machaca, Bonaire. Distribution: Central Western Atlantic: Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea and Bermuda.
