Every time that i went to forest in Kocevje - if i haven't seen it, i've heard it (one time it wandered in the middle of the night around where we slept and one time it stole our left out food from where we camped!). So there are bears there for sure. Don't know how many, probably not many, as you said ...
If you ever spot one in Switzerland i'd be happy to see your picture! :)

This kind of information is quite important here at Project Noah in instances where rare animals can be seen seen both in the wild and at the zoo (as is the case for the Slovenian brown bear in Slovenia). Fantastic that you saw one in the wild! I have come close to where they wander in Switzerland (Swiss National Park, Canton Graubuenden) but haven't seen one myself...

No, unfortunately not in the wild. This one is from our national zoo. If you're lucky enough (but you don't have camera with you at that time!) you have the best chance to spot it in Kocevje. I saw it in wild there this summer! :)
It's hard to see bears nowadays, but the deer and the falcons are quite easy to see here!

Did you see this bear in the wild Ursula? These days indeed there are quite a few brown bears in Slovenia. Sometimes they even make it briefly to the South Eastern part of my country (Switzerland).
