Western Slender Glass Lizard

Ophisaurus attenuatus

Description:

Glass lizards are legless but they are not snakes! They have functioning eyelids and external ear openings, both of which are lacking in all snakes.

Habitat:

Open woodland / pasture mix.

Notes:

This hatchling was found alive on a paved blacktop county road.
