Habenaria medusa
Deciduous tuberous terrestrial orchid found in a number of South East Asian countries. Habenaria myriotricha is considered by some botanists to be synonymous with this. The predominantly white flowers have a green nectar spur and are almost certainly pollinated by nocturnal moths. I would like to know which and one day hope to locate this plant in the wild for a pollination study.
Cultivated at home in London, in a warm conservatory in diffuse bright light.
At first I decided to only post pictures of plants in the wild on here, but some things are just too good not to share and seeing as there are no pics of this species on PN yet, here it is!

Thanks alin!
CarbonEngineer, I couldn't agree more. Every time I feel like I've seen the strangest things this family has to offer, there's always a species to surprise me. Still can't believe this one.
This is a great photo!
Amazing ! it is precisely because they are extraordinary that I love orchids.
Wow Wow Wow !
Just Wowww!
That is even better!
Thanks. I don't have the facilities here, but I know a good lab. here that will sow them.
Oh that's exciting! Sounds like you have the facilities for propagation? How nice! I wish you good luck with this.
Thanks Ashley. I have a couple of seed pods maturing on this one at the moment so hopefully it will become more widely available in time and there'll be less temptation for folk to buy dodgy wild harvested tubers off the net.
Ooo, I love it! I only just recently saw another photo of this orchid, for the first time. This is fantastic.
Gorgeous photo and great information.
A pleasure Sandra. A very apt description, each time this one blooms I can't quite believe how beautiful it is!
