Coleonyx elegans
Striking gecko of about 7cm length without the tail. The pale bands that give this species its name, make it look rather conspicuous on a leaf, but among the underbrush in a forest it's very well camouflaged. It is a ground dwelling species which is adapted to a variety of environments, from rainforest to dry forest and savanna.
Tropical rainforest in Billy Barquedier national park in southern Belize.

Coleonyx (family Eublepharidae) is a genus of terrestrial geckos found in the southwestern United States, Mexico, and Central America. Unlike other geckos, Eublepharid geckos have movable eyelids.
