Bougainvillea sp.
A South American native now cosmopolitan throughout the warm regions of the world. The flower of the plant is not composed of the bright colorful "petals" for which this plant is known and beloved (--these are really modified leaves known as bracts), but is actually small and white. These latter might be more conspicuous in this spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/724...
An ornamental, in a semi urban environment of houses, yards & gardens and patches of remnant forest.
Bougainvillea often presents a continuum of subtle hues in its blossoms (see photos 3 & 4).
