Canis latrans
A medium-sized canid that tends towards tan or brownish, grizzled back. Whitish throat and jaws.
Coyotes were originally located in western North America south to Central America and north to Alaska, but recently have been expanding their range eastward and are now found throughout North America.
This coyote was hunting with a second coyote. They had apparently cornered something under a brush-covered log, which I never did see. Eventually they gave up and moved off.

Awww soo cute.. Good job.. :)
Thanks everyone for the nice words. It was interesting to watch the two coyotes hunting. They had obviously cornered something beneath a down tree covered in brush. As I mention in the narrative, I never did see what they were hunting. They were hunting as a team. One would stand on one side of the log and the other would dash into the brush as far as it could in hopes, I believe, that whatever was in there would panic and race out the other side, right into the jaws of the other coyote. They kept up this up for about 10 minutes and finally gave up and moved off to find easier prey. Fascinating to watch though....
Skillfully taken
