Bullfrog

Lithobates catesbeianus

Description:

This one was huge at least by Washington state standards. He or she chased away a couple of other frogs that got into its space. Then it decided to go rest on its favorite perch.

Habitat:

Spotted in one the back water swamps at the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge.

Notes:

Bullfrogs are an introduced species to Washington state.
