Well, it looks like a prominent caterpillar, in the family Notodontidae (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notodontida...). I'm not sure of anything more specific than that, but with great pictures like those, there's a pretty good chance we can narrow it down :)
E-mail me when you find the ID if you don't mind. I am so so curious. Can you send it to a university for ID in Costa Rica. Of course, unicorn. I was trying to think what it looked like; many times ID are so simple with the name.
