Yes they look similar with their solid armor, just some color differences. I'll bet if you stood on them, they'll still fly away.

Oh yes, this reminds me of insects that use larger fake eyes to fool big predators.
Maybe that is the idea.
For a second, I thought those 2 orange marks on it's thorax is it's eyes.
