Reptilian Snake Eel

Brachysomophis henshawi

Description:

Also known as Henshaw's Snake Eel. They feed on small fish and invertebrates.

Habitat:

Found singly buried in the sand or rubble near coral reefs, with just the head showing.

Notes:

I was able to take only one photo of this snake eel because it withdrew into the sand when I approached too closely.
