Description:

female green sea turtle ~2½ feet long swimming above reef; visible in the image are possible epibiotic colonizations/attachments indicated by the white encrustations on the left front flipper and on the posterior of the carapace

Habitat:

waters around tropical reefs and rocky formations, normally less than 100 feet deep

Notes:

spotted about 100 yards offshore of Po'ohuna Point (near Makua Beach) on Leeward Oahu in about 35 feet of water; day and month of spotting are notional: only 1994 is known to be correct; original medium was photoprint, taken with Nikonos V using flash; print subsequently scanned and image saved as digital file
