Though I strongly believe its a common bee but cpelly's mention of "June Bug" is interesting since many different bugs around the world are called "June Bug." Maybe the one u r talking about does display some resemblance to this specimen. Can u provide a photo please!?

This insect has bent antennae (ants or bees) Long eyes, (not beetle or bug). Fur on head. These all make me think of a bee. Check this image to compare http://bbe-tech.com/bees/wp-content/uplo...

This to me it looks like a June Bug. Here in Atlantic Canada we see this late in May to the first part of July. They are found in the soil and come out at night. When they land on you it's almost like they stick to you.
