Description:

Common name: Wireworm. Wireworms usually spend three or four years in the soil. Depending on the species, some are ferocious meat eaters, such as the larva of Alaus sp., that consume wood-boring larvae. Others can be considered pests, including Limonius spp. and Agriotes spp., because they feed on the roots of plants often causing damage to agricultural crops such as potato, strawberry, corn, and wheat. Chickens are great natural enemies of wireworms & will devour these pests.

Habitat:

Most Click Beetle larvae live in the soil, but some are found under bark, in decaying wood, and in moss.
