Euchromia irius
Probably the most common Euchromia species from New Guinea. It is found from sea level up to high altitudes in all kinds of habitats. DISTRIBUTION: Aru, New Guinea, D'Entrecasteaux Islands, Bismarck Archipelago, Caroline Islands, Queensland (Australia).
This spotting observed in a large semi-urban yard & garden on the border of a disturbed patch of remnant forest, in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea..
I have observed this species only once (this spotting) in this location. For a spectacular spotting of another species of Euchromia from almost the exact same location look here http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/694...

Wow. Well thank you!
Love this one a lot! It seems the only insects left for me here this late in the season are moths and wasps. HA! I probably will never get to Indonesia, so it is nice for you to bring Indonesia to me here in the states. Thank you! Great photos as usual.
Thanks both!
