more Feral Cats

Felis catus

Description:

As long as we're on feral cats, here are two of the three I've trapped and now feed. Their names are Momma Cat and CopCar. I've been taking care of them for years, and neither will let me touch them. http://www.feralcat.com/michelle.html Also see KarenLs sweet feral cats from Dubai: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/792...

Notes:

Note right ear snipped so these cats won't have unnecessary surgery if trapped by someone else.

annorion -- Oh, they'd think they'd died and gone to heaven if I gave them wet food! It is a good way to get them to take their meds though. Thanks so much for your information.

I believe the oral flea meds are once a month like the stuff you put on them. There is one for cats, I've seen it on the dr. fosters pet site before. You might be able to just mix in the liquid with wet food and they might not notice. Tape worm medicine I've always gotten as pills. But with those try a bit of the patee style food and make like a little meatball around it. But needs to be small enough to make just one bite. They get smart about it if they bite into the pill. If they would only make a stuffable Temptations treat! Not many cats will turn those down.

@Emma -- I feed them 3 times a day. I have just realized that there is an oral flea medication for dogs which my vet says I can also use on cats so I need to talk to her about how to dose them. I'm also hoping there's an oral tape-worm medication that they will just eat. That's about all I can do for them. These cats have outlived un-cared for ferals by many years just be being fed regularly. I wash I could say they never hunted, but they do (I'm OK with them taking pocket gophers), they just hunt less since they're mostly full all day long.

@ Ava ,so what kind of care do you provide for these? I like the ides that they are totally out doors and also that whey they do not kill for sport like indoor -outdoor kitties. Do you apply flea med for them?

Lovely! We fed the feral cat that used to shelter in our horse barn but we never managed to trap her to get her 'fixed'. We did rescue her kittens & they have all found good homes. We haven't seen her since we took her kittens so I'm guessing she decided the barn was no longer a safe place for her to stay.
