Southern House Spider

Kukulcania hibernalis

Description:

dark brown velvety looking thorax & legs; oblong abdomen covered with gray hairs; body about 18 mm; no markings but silver rings where legs connect to thorax; like a brown recluse but eye grouping different these are clustered close together; black spines on the legs; robust female; long slender pedipalps

Habitat:

found in sick inside urban school classroom; often associated with human habitations, spreading its web from cracks and crevices on the exterior of structures; they cannot negotiate smooth surfaces and are often found in bath- tubs and sinks, unable to escape

Notes:

mistaken for a brown recluse; also called Crevice Weaver
