Monkfish

Description:

My son found this slimy fat headed fish in his crab trap in the canal. About a foot long. Head about 3-4" across. Wide mouth full of teeth. What is this thing? Snakehead?

And yes, it's still alive. From trap to bucket to dock for the photo...then flipped it back in the canal.

I think this is not snakehead. Snakehead is freshwater species.

I think this one is monkfish (member of anglerfish)
