Cyprinocirrhites polyactis
Also known as Swallowtail Hawkfish, Red Hawkfish, Soaring Hawkfish and Many-rayed Handfish. They feed on plankton, small fish and invertebrates. They vary in color.
Found singly or in small groups over clear water slopes and coral heads, unlike other hawkfish these are often found hovering mid-water above the reef feeding on plankton. Widespread in the Indo-Asia Pacific region.
I took these photos at a depth of about 50 feet, during a day dive at Dayang Beach, Talikud Island.
