Myrmeleon exitialis
Gray insect with a long abdomen and fairy-like wings. The edge of the wings has a black and white pattern. This is the adult. The larvae can be seen at: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/287... and the larvae pits at: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/113...
Attracted to the porch light in the backyard.

there were many more. Just could not get them all in one pic! I would have liked to explore the dried up kern River bed .Just to think that there was a river there once! Takes a while to get familiar with unknown places. By the time you start getting comfortable,it is time to return home.
Wow that is a lot in one small area!

Look at the amount of Ant Lions pits in Bakersfield. A place with abundance of frogs, crickets, skunks and kit foxes. Did not manage to get a pic of the foxes though.
