Jackdaw, also known as Western, Eurasian or European jackdaw, is a small corvid, mainly black with grey nape and back, of some 35 to 40 cm in length. It has a black face with light colored irises.
Well adapted to urban setting and seen in most of towns in France we visited, here it was observed nesting on a historical monument in south of France. Mediterranean climate and environment, banks of river Gardon, near Nimes.
The Pont du Gard is an ancient Roman aqueduct, crossing the river Gardon in southern France. Impressive monument, built by Romans and the highest of all elevated Roman aqueducts. It is also one of the best preserved, and is on UNESCO's World Heritage sites. It is an impressive sight both from the historical and architectural point of view, but also from the natural history and biodiversity point of view.
